Friedman joined American in 1990 and held positions of increasing responsibility within the airlines' revenue management department. He later moved into the interactive marketing organization, where he played a key role in enhancing and expanding the reach of AA.com. American has joined a trend of charging for snacks and meals on planes. American said it will offer customers snacks and bottled water are available for purchase on all flights two hours or longer, and light meals are available for purchase on flights three hours or longer.
