An American Airlines passenger named Carine Desir, 44, died Friday during a flight from Haiti to New York's JFK Airport. The circumstances leading up to her death are unclear with the airline saying one thing and the woman's cousin, Antonio Oliver, saying another.

North American Airlines began flying Saturday from Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport to Banjul, Gambia, with continuing service to Accra, Ghana. The carrier will use Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, which seat about 270 people for the 7 ½ hour flight. The new international flights ... mark an advance in BWI’s ambition to grow as an international gateway. The Baltimore Sun writes in an April 12 article that North American “will become the eighth overseas carrier to operate from the airport's international terminal. Although the terminal opened in 1997, it has had trouble luring and keeping service in the shadow of Washington Dulles International Airport, the region's main gateway for overseas flights.â€

American Airlines Inc. announced that it will begin new service between Kingston, Jamaica (KIN), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). The service will begin June 1, subject to government approval. American will fly the route daily with its 148-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which feature 16 seats in First Class and 132 seats in the Coach cabin. American currently serves Jamaica from Miami with three daily flights to Kingston and two flights to Montego Bay.
