As they traded punches, again, Wonder Woman's incredible Amazon warrior skills began to prevail over the somewhat weakened Supergirl. She battered Supergirl back into the wall. Terrified by the beating she was taking, Supergirl drew back her arm, and threw her best punch right at Wonder Woman's face. Just before the punch landed, though, Wonder Woman interposed her Amazon bracelet. Supergirl's fist struck the amazonian metal, squarely, with a jarring shock. Supergirl cried out at the sharp pain, as her arm went numb, to the elbow.

The Amazon warrior finds the girl likely to be a suitable gift to her god Ares so she takes her to a high mountain where she knows that a god has been present. There she plans to sacrifice her to Ares. She has placed the girl on a betyl sitting on a plinth. "Betyl" is a Semitic version of the Hebrew term "Beth-el" meaning the swelling or abode of God. Through strict martial discipline and focus, an Amazon warrior can attune herself to her environment and the dangers around her, allowing her to react to these hazards with superhuman agility. One aspect of this ability is her knack for avoiding missile fire. Just as the Amazon must master the bow and javelin, she must ... learn to defend herself from these same weapons. When an Amazon uses this ability, incoming projectiles appear to move slower than normal, enabling her to avoid them.

Once an Amazon warrior has attained mastery over the spear, she can engage and destroy multiple enemies in close quarter battle. Many of those enemies will be lucky to be alive after the vicious onslaughts of these attacks have ended. Grand Mistress Celestia was able to demonstrate this ability to the Initiates of Athulua by striking down a dozen experienced warriors in the space of an arrow's flight.
