Amazon.com is acquiring all of the outstanding shares and assuming all outstanding options of the three companies. The company expects to account for the transactions under the purchase method of accounting. The transactions are subject to customary closing conditions, including shareholder approval and expiration of the applicable waiting periods under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act of 1976.
The new Amazon.com feature provides ZANA Network members with suggested book lists related specifically to their needs. For example, a member visiting the ZANA Network site pages on starting a new business may see suggested books such as "Entrepreneur's Notebook: Practical Advice for Starting a New Business Venture" by Steven Gold or "Start Your Own Business" by Rieva Lesonsky. Other topic-specific books appear next to text in additional business guide sections of the website. The books were chosen by ZANA Network to provide readers with additional resources related to topics they're already interested in.
In addition, Amazon.com uses SAS to test the effectiveness of a variety of features, designs and technologies and to measure how well they served the customer. "While we don't use SAS for the operational implementation of these features, we count on SAS to enable our test-and-learn approach for evaluating new product page layouts and new search technology," Lye says.

TOLEDO, Ohio, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) recently completed a rigorous test of its Rolling Chassis(TM) module as it sponsored a voyage across the Amazon jungle in three Dodge Dakota pickup trucks. Calling the trip the "Dana Integration," after the Highway of Integration linking Brazil and Venezuela, the company sponsored teams on a 12,000-mile journey through terrains ranging from asphalted highways to rain forest trails. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990903/DANA ) Dana manufactures the Rolling Chassis(TM) module in Campo Largo, Brazil, for the Dodge Dakota pickup truck. This module represents more than 25 percent of the vehicle and incorporates more than 200 components from 66 suppliers. The Rolling Chassis(TM) module includes the frame, front and rear axles, driveshaft, suspension, steering gear, brakes, fuel tank, wiring harness, fluid lines, wheels and tires. "Dana has helped DaimlerChrysler reduce its number of suppliers while lowering the OEM's investment in its Campo Largo plant and inventory," said Mike Laisure, vice president of Dana's Modules and Systems Group.
That means startups and other companies using Amazon’s Web-scale computing infrastructure now bigger collectively than Amazon.com, at least as measured by bandwidth usage. Amazon is one of the largest Websites in the world (No. 7 in the U.S.), so that is a significant milestone. Amazon doesn’t break out revenues from its Web Services, but presumably it is part of the “Other” line, which was only $131 million for the quarter and includes businesses besides Amazon Web Services (such as its merchant services).
