Amanda Tapping is "Magnus"/Executive Producer of Sanctuary. Amanda is best known as the intelligent and beautiful Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter in the hit Sci-Fi Channel series, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Tapping was born in Rochford, England and raised in Toronto, Canada with her three brothers. Recently Amanda had the pleasure to host another series called Proof Positive for the Sci-Fi Channel. The series explores the science front of fact versus fiction. Amanda Tapping was born in Rochford, Essex in England. She spent a short time in South Benfleet, Essex,and was relocated to Ontario, Canada, at the age of 3. She attended North Toronto High School where she was awarded the Dramatic Arts Award and Environmental Science Award. Her first love always was acting. Amanda studied drama at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario. After graduation she spent four more years studying theater and appearing in several stage productions.

Amanda Tapping was born on August 28, 1965, in Rochford, Essex, England, and grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She studied at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Art, continuing to study theater after graduation, and appearing in several stage productions. Her first television gigs were commercials. She co-founded the improvisational comedy troupe Random Acts in the early 1990's, performing sketch comedy with two other women, Katherine Jackson and Anne Marie Kerr, in Toronto venues. At the same time, she began to make guest appearances on series such as Street Legal, Forever Knight, and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.
