Because of their popularity, Aloe vera plants are available at almost every garden shop or nursery. Unless you live in area with a very mild climate, it's best to leave your Aloe plant in the pot and place it near a window that gets a lot of sun. You can move the pot outdoors during the summer months.

Aloe was held in such reverence in Egypt that it was considered to be the "Plant of Immortality". Drawings of the aloe plant have even been found inscribed in the tombs of pharaohs.

It is not difficult to grow aloe vera in your own garden in frost-free climates. It requires well-drained sandy soil in moderate light. If planted in pot or other containers ensure sufficient drainage with drainage holes. Potted aloe vera should be allowed to completely dry prior to re-watering. In winter aloe vera could be dormant, during which little moisture is required.
