Sheedy was always a performer. As a girl, she’d write stories and act them out for her mother in their apartment. One story was about a mouse in Queen Elizabeth’s court. Her mother’s friend happened to catch that performance, and suggested Sheedy pitch the story to the McGraw-Hill publishing company.
