The Texas Children’s Allergy and Immunology Clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for pediatric patients with allergy, asthma and primary and secondary immune dysfunction. The spectrum of diseases now being seen by these specialists includes hypersensitivity diseases, severe asthma, antibody deficiencies, and cellular immune defects requiring immune reconstitution.
  The main research objective of the Allergy and Immunology Division is to conduct cutting-edge basic, translational and clinical research in the area of asthma, allergy and adult-type immunodeficiency disorders. Our research interest includes signal transduction of inflammatory cells (Alam, Gorska), cytokine biology (Alam, Dreskin, Gorska, Huang), animal models of allergy and asthma (Alam), allergen characterization (Dreskin, Weber), immunotherapy (Dreskin, Nelson), allergy testing procedures (Katial, Nelson), aspirin desensitization (Katial, Weber), allergic rhinitis (Alam, Dreskin, Nelson), pharmacotherapy of asthma (Nelson), immunodeficiency (Kirkpatrick), urticaria (Harbeck), vaccines (Katial), and viral immunity (Kirkpatrick).
The humble beginnings of the Malaysian Society of Allergy and Immunology can be traced back to a small but dedicated group of doctors and healthcare personnel. They gathered at the Royal Lake Club on several occasions in the 1996 to formulate a plan.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) offers a three-year training program in allergy and immunology. This program, open to physicians who are well-grounded in clinical internal medicine or pediatrics, is designed to provide trainees with the high-quality clinical and laboratory skills that will enable them to pursue careers in academic medicine.
