1. The Horse Whisperer
   The Horse Whisperer is a wonderful novel written by a fairly new author, Nicholas Evans, with only two other books under his belt. The book tells the story of how a 13-year-old girl, Grace, and her horse, Pilgrim, survive a horrific accident with a 40-ton truck. But both are physically and mental scarred. Grace loses her right leg and the Pilgrim breaks his nose and becomes consumed with fear.
2. Trojan Horse
   Trojan or Trojan Horse is a general term that refers to programs that appear desirable, but actually contain something potentially harmful. It gets its name from the Trojan Horse that was an instrument of war used by the Greeks to gain access to the city of Troy. It looked like a gift of a giant wooden horse, but actually concealed soldiers inside.
3. Crazy Horse
   A monument to Crazy Horse is being carved out of a mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota just 27 km (17 mi) from Mount Rushmore. American sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski began carving the monument in the 1940s, and after his death in 1982 members of his family continued working on the sculpture. The carved face of Crazy Horse, 27 m (87 ft) high, was finished and dedicated in 1998. When the entire statue is completed some time in the 21st century, it is expected to be almost 180 m (600 ft) high.
4. Bruce Dern -- Shoot Horses
   Some critics said that "Gatsby" would have been better if Dern rather than Robert Redford had played the title role. Others pointed to his fine work as Nicholson's brother in The King of Marvin Gardens (1972) to establish a case that he was an underappreciated and underutilized talent. By the time Dern appeared as the cuckolded Marine in "Coming Home," a consensus had emerged that Dern was a fine actor. He won an Oscar nod for the role, then fell victim to the infamous "Oscar curse" that has claimed other winners, most famously in the case of 1969 Best Supporting Actor winner Gig Young, Dern's co-star in They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969).
5. The Horse Whisperer -- Dan Franklin
   Rocky's story has simply been in the age-old story of a horse struggling to communicate in a human world. It is a struggle that thousands of horses undergo every year. But because Rocky's reactions were so extreme, it made the humans around him try harder to find another way, opening up a new channel of communication which has benefited both humans and other horses alike. Just as Rocky has helped hundreds of humans with their own problems, he has shown Dan how to help horses and humans to communicate with each other a message Dan is proud to take worldwide today. Blue ribbons would do Rocky no justice - it is the peace and contentment that he has helped others to find that will be his fitting legacy.
6. Seabiscuit (Movie) -- Horses
   The 1949 feature The Story of Seabiscuit was the first movie that attempted to bring Seabiscuit's tale to the silver screen. In it, former child star Shirley Temple plays Margaret, the niece of horse trainer Shawn O'Hara (Barry Fitzgerald). The two come from Ireland to live on a California horse ranch where Shawn casts his eye on Seabiscuit and focuses his efforts on turning the unconventional horse into a racing champion. Meanwhile, his niece Margaret falls in love with jockey Ted Knowles (Lon McCallister), but fears the dangers of his risky profession.
7. Billy Bob Thornton -- Band
   Billy Bob Thornton and Bruce Willis star in this romantic comedy about bank robbers who fall in love with the same woman. The stars - and special guests - posed for photos at the Premiere of "Bandits" on October 4, 2001.
8. Sam Mendes -- Jake Gyllenhaal
   Lucas Black, who won wide acclaim in last year's "Friday Night Lights" and will next be seen opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard and Jamie Foxx in Sam Mendes' "Jarhead," will lead the ensemble cast of the film. Black has ... been seen in "Sling Blade," "All The Pretty Horses" and "Cold Mountain."
9. Jamie Foxx -- Years
   Lucas Black, who won wide acclaim in last year's "Friday Night Lights" and will next be seen opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard and Jamie Foxx in Sam Mendes' "Jarhead," will lead the ensemble cast of the film. 10. Billy Bob Thornton -- Director
    In his late twenties, Billy Bob Thornton settled on Los Angeles to pursue his career as an actor alongside future writing partner Tom Epperson. Like many other actors, Thornton had a difficult time succeeding as an actor while taking on several odd jobs such as telemarketing, fast food management, and any way to support himself while waiting for a big break. The actor suffered a bout of myocarditis which is inflammation of the heart since all he could afford to eat was potatoes. With his mother's encouragement, Thornton kept plugging away for his big break. It was later on while Thornton was working as a waiter for an industry event that he was serving film director Billy Wilder. Thornton struck up a conversation with the film legend who had advised the actor that he should write for himself to help utilize his looks.
