   Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie (born August 16, 1958), known simply by her first name, is an American pop singer-songwriter, record and film producer, dancer, actress, author and fashion icon. Guinness World Records listed Madonna as the most successful female recording artist of all time. Madonna is often referred to, by the media, as the 'Queen of pop'.    Madonna was a guest vocalist on the song "Sing" on the Annie Lennox 2007 album Songs of Mass Destruction. The song involved twenty-three female artists joining Lennox for the collaboration. This "powerful feminist anthem" was born out of Lennox's involvement with Nelson Mandela’s 46664 and Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) – organisations fighting for human rights, education and health care for those affected by the HIV AIDS virus. "Sing" was released as a single on December 3, 2007.

   Madonna's fourth album, Like a Prayer, released in 1989, was co-written and co-produced with Patrick Leonard and Stephen Bray.[47] She teamed up with Prince on a duet, and he ... played guitar on two songs. Like a Prayer garnered Madonna the strongest reviews of her career and attracted a more mature audience. All Music Guide described the album as "her best and most consistent",[48] while Rolling Stone hailed the album as "..as close to art as pop music gets".[49] Like a Prayer peaked at number one on the US album chart and sold seven million copies worldwide, with 4 million copies alone sold in the U.S.[41] The album produced five hit singles: the title track, “Express Yourself" (U.S. #2), “Cherish" (U.S. #2), “Oh Father” and “Keep It Together" (U.S. #8).

   The next few years saw Madonna successfully branch out into yet another area of artistic endeavour - that of writing children's books. Her first book, The English Roses, was published in 2003 and holds the record for the fastest-selling children's picture book. Subsequent works Mr. Peabody's Apples, Adventures of Abdi, Yakov and the Seven Thieves and Lotsa de Casha, have been eagerly received by their intended young audience.

   Madonna may find it flattering after all these years, but her husband Guy Ritchie is still jealous of her ex boyfriend Carlos Leon! Carlos, of course is the father of Madonna's daughter Lourdes, so he is always in her life. Madonna encourages Carlos to spend time with Lourdes and she lets him stay at her Beverly Hills house when she and Lourdes are in LA. Sometimes Guy is not there and sometimes he is, but either way it makes him REALLY uncomfortable. (Keep in mind Carlos is still training and in great physical shape.) Whether Guy can convince Madonna that three's a crowd remains to be seen.

   Gloria Trevi, known as "Mexico's Madonna" was born February 15, 1968 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Trevi is a vocal advocate of glbt people and is considered a "gay queen" by her many fans in both U.S. and Mexico.

    In 2004, Madonna embarked on The Re-Invention Tour, which featured fifty-six dates in the US, Canada, and Europe and became the highest-grossing tour of 2004, earning $125 million. Also in 2004, Madonna was involved in a brief legal battle with Warner Music Group, with whom she co-owned record label Maverick.
