Chatberry can now alert you in a range of ways to various activities in the chat rooms. You can be alerted with a vibration, audio tone, or message on the blackberry screen. You can be alerted when there is a new line in a chat room, a request for private chat, when a buddy joins, or just when anyone joins.

When you select a chat room, ReunioNet Chat loads a new web page that includes the Java chat client. This may take a few seconds so be patient. When the client is loaded, ReunioNet Chat automatically logs you into the chat room using the same name it uses to post your messages. That is, the name is either your real name (with spaces replaced by underscores) or your login name. In IRC chat, the name you are known by is called a nickname. You can change your nickname once you are in chat at any time, as described later in this help.

[JURIST] The National Telecommunications Commission [official site] in the Philippines has ordered cable operators to shut down all chat rooms, in response to complaints that some had become sex channels. The NTC commented that some chat room operators were not regulating the use of profane language or explicit messages in their facilities. The Philippine Daily Inquirer has more.

These things use HTML, which all chat rooms do not use. Most web chats do, but most Java-based and instant messaging chats do not. Still other chat rooms require extra brackets. If these do not work, try replacing every < with << and every > with >>.

You can connect to or create as many simultaneous chat rooms as you like and have as many simultaneous private sessions as you like.

Everyone in the other chat room sees the message. In the Java client, the message appears in a different color from the normal conversation text. In a PIRCH client, this command appears as a Note.
