All American Football: American Football League
built 170 days ago
The 32-team National Football League (NFL) is currently the only major professional American football league in North America. At least two new professional American Football Leagues are slated to begin playing in 2008, the All-American Football League and the United Football League. There are professional American football leagues located in over 50 countries in the world (see List of leagues of American and Canadian football). A few of the more popular international leagues are the German Football League (GFL) and the Japanese X-League. The NFL does not operate any developmental leagues currently since the closing of NFL Europa. Players unable to make an NFL team sometimes play in other leagues such as the Arena Football League or Canadian Football League, both of which have rules differing somewhat from those of the NFL.

According to the League's website, the All American Football League is a for-profit, professional football league. Teams will initially operate as divisions of the League, and football operations will be run by a quasi-independent board and General Manager. Universities with Division IA football programs will host some of the League's teams and other teams will play in independent venues. Games will be scheduled in the spring and early summer beginning in 2008.

The new All American Football League held their second national tryout camp today at Birmingham, Alabama's Legion Field, according to a press release issued by the League through PR Newswire. At the tryouts the League announced the signings of four former University of Alabama players to contracts. The players are Reggie Myles, Marcus Spencer, Alonzo Ephraim and Ahmaad Galloway.
The All American Football League, scheduled to begin play in April 2008, is a professional American football league in which all players must possess a four-year university degree. The players will be employees of the AAFL rather than of the franchises, and the league will pay each player an average compensation of approximately $100,000 to year 'round player employees and $50,000 to season-only players to attract the best non-NFL talent. The AAFL's inaugural Draft took place on January 26, 2008.
The All American Football League is aligning with the passion for college football and the year-round fan interest in the game's traditions and rivalries. The League's spring schedule is designed to satisfy fans who hunger for quality football between the NFL and college seasons. In addition to Texas, the League's charter teams will be located in avid college football markets with teams representing the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Michigan and Tennessee.
