built 607 days ago
Alienware has been creating specialized, high-end, gaming-oriented rigs for quite some time now, providing certain configurations that really sound "alien" to most normal users. Description: This configuration of the Alienware Area-51 is an 8.6-pound, consumer level notebook computer. Compared to other general-purpose notebooks on the market, it is midpriced at around $1,515. Has Wi-Fi (wireless connectivity) built-in. Features NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics with 512MB of video RAM.
Alienware has a clear goal in mind with the production of the Area-51 m9750 and that is to make a top of the line gaming system. The fact that they are willing to configure the notebook with a SLI setup using two GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics cores is a testament to that goal. In fact, a system that is built with the top of the line options is nearly an unbeatable mobile platform when it comes to PC gaming.
Today Alienware unveiled its new Area-51 m17x and m15x gaming laptops. The m17x is a 17" screen monster while the m15x is a 15" screen notebook. Both offer dual Nvidia 8800m graphics cards and Intel Core 2 Extreme 2.80GHz processors. And yes, the cliche "out of this world design" holds true too. The only bad news is that the m17x and m15x won't be available until Q1 of 2008.
Alienware Area-51 m17x, Area-51 m15x The Alienware Area-51 m17x sports a 17-inch display supporting a 1080p (1920-by-1200 pixels) high definition resolution. The screen is managed by dual Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX or dual Nvidia 8700M GT graphics cards operating in SLI mode. This high-end laptop provides up to 640GB of data storage, plus an expandable Smart Bay hard drive option. The m17x ships with a Blu-Ray burner and supports up to 4GB system memory. In addition, it has the 1GB Intel Turbo Memory option for better system responsiveness. The Alienware’s upcoming notebook provides 802.11a/b/g/draft n wireless connectivity and an optional built-in TV tuner.
