Alien Hominid: Alien Hominid Hd
built 225 days ago
Alien Hominid (or Alien Hominid HD on Xbox 360) is an independently developed console video game released for Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube in 2004 through publisher O~3 Entertainment. A PAL version was later released during May 2005 for PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox through ZOO Digital Publishing. A Game Boy Advance version (co-developed by Tuna Technologies) has ... been released in Europe, with a PC port also in production. The game was developed by The Behemoth. The Xbox version is not compatible with the Xbox's successor, the Xbox 360, but was made available for download on February 28, 2007 on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 points ($10 USD.)[1].
Alien Hominid HD is a quirky little arcade-style shooter that is fast, frantic, and very fun to play. Think of Contra or Metal Slug and that should give you a good idea of what the game plays like. The graphics are gorgeous, and it provides the perfect mix of challenge and fun to keep you coming back for more. This XBLA game is definitely worth the 800 point investment.

When it started as an online flash game, Alien Hominid developed a large underground following. Finally, it was picked up by publisher O~3 Entertainment and developer The Behemoth retooled the game for release on the Playstation 2 and Gamecube, where it was met with critical praise and grew more of a underground/cult type following. Now, the game has been released for the Xbox Live Arcade, in high definition to boot. But aside from the HD upgrades and some Xbox Live functionality, the game has unfortunately not been drastically changed.

Alien Hominid started life as a Flash based game on Newgrounds. Since then, it’s grown hugely in popularity, and already spawned a number of console versions. Now The Behemoth is ready to take their first step into the HD era, and the results are very nice.
Unlike other titles ported to Microsoft’s Arcade service Alien Hominid supports true HD visuals that look fantastic running on a good setup. While the style of the game is far from a technological masterpiece the simple characters and outlandish animations really stand out from conventional shooters. The colors are all very vibrant and the backgrounds are chock full chaos that will have you stopping to enjoy the scenery more often than not. All of this runs at an impressive frame rate that never seems to dip.
Alien Hominid HD tells the story of a little alien that crash lands on Earth and then has to do his best to avoid capture by the FBI. The game plays as a side scrolling shooter where you move from left to right and blast anything and everything you see. Your main weapon is a little blaster, but you can ... charge it up for a more powerful shot. Along the way, you'll also find powerups that give you lasers, a spread gun, and many more. You can also toss grenades. A nice touch is that you can also drive vehicles that are scattered around the stages, which helps to give the game some variety, if only for a few seconds at a time.
