Alicia Silverstone’s new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has been banned in Houston, Texas. Local Comcast Cable bosses forbade the spot because the actress appears naked, and they don't want to annoy viewers in Texas. Texas was the place chosen by PETA for the debut of Silverstone's new ad (... available on Peta's website, PETA.org ) because the states' leading cities "repeatedly rank among the least healthy in America." The controversial commercial was directed by Dave Meyers ("Work It" and "Lose Control”).
Comcast Cable has pulled from its Houston feed the new 30-second PETA spot featuring Alicia Silverstone, citing the actress' utter nudity as a deal-breaker. (Watch the video here.) Interestingly, Houston was chosen as the launch city for the campaign because, People says, it often ranks high on lists of cities boasting the worst eating habits. In response to the snub, PETA's president says that Houston residents can still take in the vid at PETA.com and "get an eyeful, not only of the stunning Ms. Silverstone, but ... of our free Vegetarian Starter Kit — chock full of delicious recipes — that will make them drool for an entirely different reason." read more

The Peta ad featuring a naked Alicia Silverstone promoting a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle was axed at the last minute by Comcast as it was set to air in Houston on E!, Lifetime and Food Network. The TV commercial, which Silverstone was doing for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), had been scheduled to launch on Wednesday. But Comcast Cable, which had planned to carry the spot, banned the ad because Silverstone is naked, according to media reports.
