Last spring, Silverstone debuted on Broadway as Elaine Robinson in The Graduate, opposite Kathleen Turner and Jason Biggs. She ... set up her own company, First Kiss Production, and in June 2001 began executive producing an animated television series called Braceface. The ratings were so high that the ABC Family Network gave the show its best Saturday morning time slot. Silverstone provides the voice of the main character. She was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer in an animated program. Alicia also won a Genesis Award for Braceface, akin to the Oscars for animal lovers.

At the age of 6, Alicia received a series of modeling jobs. Soon thereafter, she appeared in a Domino’s Pizza television commercial and then, who could forget her guest appearance as Kevin’s Fred Savage dream girl on The Wonder Years. Following the huge success of Clueless, Alicia was signed with Columbia for a $10 million three-picture deal and was ... given the opportunity to produce the films. In 1997, however, Alicia's career seemed set back when she was seen as Batgirl in Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin (1997, also starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, and Uma Thurman). Though the film went on to become a box office hit, Alicia's performance received mixed reviews and she was even awarded a Razzie for Worst Actress. Additionally, 1997's Excess Baggage (with Benicio Del Toro), in which she both starred and produced with her production company First Kiss Productions, did not do well at the box office.

Apparently, Sony was hoping that after a potential blockbuster like Batman and Robin, Alicia would be bankable at the box office. But when the performance of Batman and Robin proved to be disappointing, they lost faith in her and pretty much dumped Excess Baggage with very little promotion or marketing. After her production deal ended, very few people would hire her.
