November 9, 2004 - Congratulations to Alicia Keys who was honored last night (Monday) in New York City as Glamour Magazine's Women Of The Year. The icing for the singer was having one of her heroes Natalie Cole present her with the award. In fact while talking to the press backstage the singer spoke mostly of how much she respected Cole. Keys will headline the Barbados Jazz Festival on January, 10 - 16; the event will ... feature the Yellowjackets and Pieces Of A Dream. On Nov. 16 the singer will release a documentary DVD 'The Diary of Alicia Keys' recorded during the making of her album of the same name.

Alicia Keys is among the stars who’ll be feted at the inaugural Black Entertainment Television (BET) Honors next month. The No One singer will be honored for her achievements in entertainment at the ceremony, held to pay tribute to the contributions African-Americans have made in various fields.
In 2003 Keys released her second album, The Diary of Alicia Keys. The album quickly reached the same level of success as the first one and was nominated for a Grammy award for Album of the Year, among others, and the song "If I Ain't Got You" was nominated for Song of the Year. The Diary of Alicia Keys eventually won six Grammy Awards total. With her success firmly established, in February of 2005 Keys was asked to sing "America the Beautiful" before the Super Bowl XXXIX in Florida, an honor which the young singer was happy to accept.In April of that 2004 Keys decided that she wanted to do something good with all the fame she had and joined the nonprofit group Frum the Ground Up to help teens with self esteem and goal making. During her tour to promote her album The Diary of Alicia Keys, she visited an inner-city Chicago middle school to discuss the importance of having and following one's dreams. She had plans to visit schools in Atlanta, Washington DC, and New York City as well.
