Alex Smith: Games
built 199 days ago
Alex Smith plays professionally for the Rochester Rattlers. Smith was selected with the third overall pick in the 2007 MLL Collegiate Draft. [2] Smith was elected to the 2007 MLL All-Star game, when faceoff specialist Peter Vlahakis was unable to play due to an injury.

Smith is entering his second year in the NFL. As a rookie, he played in all 16 games pulling down 41 receptions for 367 yards and 2 TD's. With a year under his belt and a better feel for the offense, Alex's number can only get better. Some people worry about Anthony Becht stealing some of Smith's thunder. Last year Becht managed a meager 16 receptions for 112 yards. If you're looking for a quality backup that could turn into a nice starter, Smith is your man.

Smith ... spent the offseason working daily with his new coordinator, wide recievers and tight end, while working to improve his technique and add bulk. The improved offensive cast clearly helped Smith develop in his second year, especially early. Smith's first three games of the season saw him thow three touchdowns, no interceptions, and 814 yards. After struggling in Kansas City, he then threw for three touchdowns in one game against the Oakland Raiders, setting a career high.

Smith, who was removed from the injury report Friday, had to take a pain-killing shot before the game and had his shoulder taped up in the second quarter. He was in excrutiating pain throughout Sunday's contest, and it didn't help that he stood in to take several shots. It doesn't appear that Smith aggravated his injury, but don't expect him to be 100 percent for Week 9.
