Cejka and his father, an engineer and part-time piano player who had divorced Alex's mother, settled in Germany and Cejka considers himself a German. Now 34, he ... deserves to consider himself one of the world's best golfers. Inspired by Bernhard Langer, who was then emerging as the first world-ranked German golfer, Cejka started taking golf lessons and previously qualified for the Masters in 1996.

"Basically, the second half of last year I was playing hurt," said Cejka, who tied for third in the John Deere Classic in July. "But I was ready at the beginning of this season and I'm playing better than my results have shown."
