In 1995 it was the venue for the Turespaña Masters won by Alex Cejka, as well as various Challenge Tour tournaments, including the APG of Spain. This has given a great status and reputation to Islantilla, which in the year 2000 was placed among the top 100 golf courses in Europe by the prestigious magazine Golf Digest

From February through May, Cejka played 12 PGA Tour events, taking two weeks off. In May, he traveled to China and Germany for tournaments before coming back to the PGA Tour in June.

Cejka finished tied for 14th at the Volvo Masters on the European Tour. Despite not playing in the last two events, he qualified for his PGA Tour card by finishing 120th in PGA Tour earnings.

Cejka withdrew after seven holes of the third round due to a neck injury. He has had a lackluster year with only one top-10 finish and has been a disappointing fantasy play since 2004 when he finished No. 54 on the PGA Tour money list.
