Alex Barron: Seasons
built 644 days ago
The inaugural SuperNationals main event in 125 Moto was won by none other than Alex Barron, one of the most famous American karters to make good in professional motorsports. Barron was a top driver for the Arcadia, CA based JM Racing juggernaut of the 90s, winning kart events all over the country on a Tony Kart. That fall, Barron had just won the KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship in a battle over fellow karter and Lynx Racing teammate Memo Gidley by taking the season finale at Laguna Seca. Barron arrived in Las Vegas looking to put an exclamation point on his karting career before heading to CART with Dan GurneyĆ¢€™s All American Racers squad, and he did so with a bang, topping a star-studded field.
- Alex Barron’s fourth-place finish exceeds his previous season-best of sixth at Richmond. He now has five top-10 finishes during the 2005 campaign. His Red Bull Cheever Racing team has now registered a top-10 finish in five of the last six races with a total of seven overall during that span. Barron moves up into 11th in points, just behind teammate Patrick Carpentier.
Before the San Diego native split his time in 2001, Barron competed on a part-time basis with Dale Coyne's CART team in 2000. He spent two full seasons in CART with Dan Gurney's team in 1998 and 1999 (part time with Roger Penske's team). His best CART finish was an eighth at California Speedway's 2-mile oval in 2000.

Barron will join Sciuto and the Polestar team at this week's first test session with the new-generation Champ Car Atlantic car, March 21-22 at the California Speedway road course. He'll officially make his Atlantic re-introduction at the opening race of the season, April 7-9 at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
The Rams' best bet now is to try Alex Barron, a strong pass protector, on the blind side and move Milford Brown to the first unit at right tackle. Pace, 32, will have missed 23 of a possible 32 games when he enters next season. The entire Rams offense is going to suffer.

After spending a number of seasons in CART, Barron moved to the Indy Racing League part time in 2001 before competing full time starting in 2002. In that first full season, Barron scored one win and four top five finishes in 15 starts on his way to a fifth place finish in the championship standings.
