Alex Barron: Seasons
built 616 days ago
In recent days, Martz had been highly critical of Barron's agent, Roosevelt Barnes for not getting a deal done so that Alex Barron could get into camp. Towards the end of last season, Martz got into a physical confrontation with the man that Barron is hoping to replace at right tackle, Kyle Turley. Turley missed all of the 2004 season with a back injury, but Martz felt that Turley wasn't really hurt as much as he claimed.
- Alex Barron (Red Bull Toyota) earned his best finish of the season with a fourth-place showing to pace Toyota in Sunday’s Amber Alert Portal Indy 300 at the Kentucky Speedway. Helio Castroneves (Marlboro Team Penske Toyota) secured fifth to give Toyota two cars in the top-five today.
FORT WORTH, Texas, June 12, 2004 – Chevrolet gave Red Bull Cheever Racing driver Alex Barron wings tonight at Texas Motor Speedway as he posted his first podium finish of the season. Relegated to the back of the grid by a gearbox problem in qualifying, Barron picked off cars on the track and in the pits. When the green flag flew on Lap 186 after the final caution period, Barron was fourth in the order. With 12 laps remaining, he moved to third and defended the inside line tenaciously to the finish.

In '97, Barron took the Atlantic series by storm. He earned five wins and four pole positions with the Lynx team to capture both the series title and Rookie-of-the-Year honors. The following season he graduated to Champ Cars joining Dan Gurney's All-American Racers squad. After being named RACER magazine's Most Promising Road Racer of the Year in '98, Barron competed for a number of Champ Car teams over the next several seasons. He made 34 Champ Car starts from 1998-2001 for teams including All-American Racers, Marlboro Team Penske, Dale Coyne Racing and Arciero-Blair Racing. He joined the IRL in 2001 and earned two series victories in 59 starts through last season.
After a two-week holdout, St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Alex Barron has inked a five-year deal with the team. Because of the holdout and the time it takes to learn blocking schemes, Rams coach Mike Martz said he doesn't expect Barron to be an opening day starter for the Rams when they begin their regular season on September 11th against the San Francisco 49ers.
Alex Barron spent Thursday night in a hospital after undergoing surgery on his right thumb earlier in the day, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Although he'll wear a cast for the rest of the season, Barron might miss only one game.
