Born and educated as an Industrial Engineer in Mexico, Fernandez-Veraud gave up his career to come to the United States and study wood and furniture design at the School for American Crafts. He expresses his fascination with texture and color and interest in a variety of materials in his work. He currently teaches furniture design at the University of Miami.

In addition to its sponsorship for "The Christmas Gift," JCPenney has ... selected one of Fernandez' latest songs for its holiday marketing campaign. The song "Cuando Estamos Juntos" will be featured in a Hispanic holiday television commercial, set to air from Nov. 11 - Dec. 24.

Alejandro is rumored to be a romantic ladies man and has been photographed and linked with many women. He had three children (Alejandro, Jr. and the twins, América and Camila) with his wife, Mexican América Guinart whom he left for his now ex-girlfriend, Colombian model Ximena Díaz. He has two children with her, Emiliano and Valentina.
