Alec Baldwin started on the stage and soon moved to television, cast in the series The Doctors in 1980. He has since appeared in dozens of feature films, including Beetlejuice (1988, with Michael Keaton), Miami Blues (1990) and Ghosts of Mississippi (1996), and he did voice work for 2001's Final Fantasy. His filmography is a mixed bag that includes broad comedy such as the blockbuster The Cat in the Hat (2003, starring Mike Myers) and dramas such as The Cooler (2003, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor). In 1992 Baldwin was nominated for a Tony award for his Broadway performances of A Streetcar Named Desire. Baldwin is an outspoken activist for the environment and animal rights, and was married to actress Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2001. Alec Baldwin will star with Dane Cook and Kate Hudson in the Lionsgate comedy Bachelor No. 2. The story is about a guy (Cook) who is hired to take girls on horrible dates so they come crawling back to the boyfriends they dumped. He is thrown for a loop... when his best friend needs his help with the girl who dumped him. Baldwin will play Professor Thompson in the movie, which is being directed by Howard Deutch (The Whole Ten Yards, The Replacements). Shooting is slated to begin next week. Baldwin is nominated for an Emmy for his performance in the NBC comedy series 30 Rock, which starts shooting for next season later this month.
