Albania has a narrow coastal plain and a mostly mountainous interior that is lightly forested. A few large lakes stretch along the country's borders with Montenegro in the north and Macedonia and Greece in the southeast. The Ionian coast from Vlorë to Saranda offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

All foreign citizens of Albanian nationality can enter in Albania without visa. In such a case identity cards are accepted as valid. Do not need visa for this period of time the citizens from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia- Herzegovina.

Lake Skadar, the biggest enclosed body of water in the Balkans, is shared by Albania and Montenegro. The prime ministers of the two countries met for the first time at a high-level workshop dedicated to the preservation of the lake and the sustainable management of its natural resources.

The qualifiers for the 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifiers saw Albania forced to play some home games on neutral venues due to civil unrest at home. However, they achieved a 4-1 win over Turkey in an away friendly match in 1998 - the only time Albania have scored more than 3 goals in a full international match (although they did win 5-0 at home to Montenegro on September 22, 1946, Montenegro was at that time part of Yugoslavia).
