Salaries for about 1,500 Alaska Airlines pilots were cut by about 26 percent in May 2005. The union estimates that cuts cost pilots between $80 million and $100 million per year in forgone benefits.
PHOENIX, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Airlines today opened a new reservations call center in south Phoenix, replacing the airline's Tempe, Ariz., facility operated since 1989. Alaska invested $5 million to develop the 30,000-square-foot leased space into its most modern call center.
On August 8, 1954, a Douglas DC-3 operating the routing of McGrath, Alaska-Colorado Creek, Alaska crashed into the side of a mountain about 25 miles northwest of McGrath. Both crew members perished.
Prior to joining Alaska, Carruthers worked for Eastern Airlines in its public relations and military airlift command divisions. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, she received a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.
