Alaska Airlines does not participate in any major global alliances, but the airline has codeshare agreements with several United States airlines. It currently has codeshare agreements with American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Northwest Airlines. The majority of its codeshares are with American Airlines, and the two airlines both use the SABRE reservation system.

Alaska could become the first U.S. airline to equip its whole fleet for Internet service if its spring test flights prove the service technically feasible. It expects to have all of its planes equipped by the end of 2009. But both American and Southwest airlines have announced they too are working on providing airborne Internet service, so the race to get each fleet equipped could be close.

FareCompare.com reports that Delta and Alaska airlines have matched a portion of American's $20 hike on round-trip fares. The moves come as oil prices hover around $95 per barrel. So don't be surprised if more carriers jump in over the next few days.
