Alan Rickman was born in London, where he still resides, in February, 1946. He originally wanted to be an artist and attended the Royal College of Art. He received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) at age 26 and went on to appear in numerous stage works which eventually led to work in film.

Alan Rickman was just a few minutes ago on BBC Breakfast talking about his film "Snowcake", but was asked about Sweeney Todd. He said that he would be in the barbers chair next week, and that it might be the end of his career as he would have to sing.

Opening with Jill sitting, chatting away, Alan tells Dysart that she says “silly things”. She tells him that he has “pretty eyes” and wants to know if he'd like to take her out. Eventually he agrees, and they go to see a "silly" film. Alan is discovered by his own father who ... shows up at the theatre, and the truth becomes apparent to Alan, in that "his father is just like him." Shortly thereafter, an argument ensues between Alan and his father, and he won't return home and agrees that it's proper to walk Jill home. Jill ultimately leads him to the stables where they begin to become close and kiss for the first time.
High quality pictures of Alan and Sigourney Weaver at the Snow Cake premiere at the 5th Annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York, which took place on May 4th, are up here in the gallery now. Enjoy!

In the only tolerable segment of this slice of festive treacle, Rickman teams up with Thompson again to play a cranky boss who combines shaggy sexiness with appalling bastardry. We forgive him, a little, when he gives Laura Linney some advice: "Invite him out for a drink and then after about 20 minutes, casually drop into the conversation the fact that you'd like to marry him and have lots of sex and babies."
