Alan Davies: Jonathan Creek
built 667 days ago
Alan Davies has never been much of a hecklerspray target in the past. That's partly because the thing that he's most famous for - Jonathan Creek, a show about a mystery-solving magician who lives in a windmill - hasn't been on TV for a few years, and partly because we feared that if we mentioned Alan Davies on the site we'd effectively be opening the gates for all slightly annoying curly-haired comedians. And that means more Justin Lee-Collins stories. Really, we're doing this to protect you.

Alan is one of the UK's favourite comedians and actors. If you've seen him in anything else, it was probably the superlatively quirky cult BBC series Jonathan Creek, in which he plays the part of a woolly-coiffed, windmill-dwelling magician-sleuth. You may ... have been lucky enough to see his stand-up routines which have played all over the country, to great acclaim.

Alan used his new-found success to launch his acting career, appearing in Jonathan Creek in 1997 and A Many Splintered Thing in 1998. His performance was well received and signified a change in the pace of Alan’s career trajectory.

Correctness and even intelligence go out of the window in this quiz, as Jonathan Ross, Rich Hall, Phill Jupitus and Alan Davies trade interesting facts in a Children in Need special. Host Stephen Fry prompts the discussions with information based on the word descendants

Who the hell does Alan think he is? He should be flattered that he is recognised as Jonathan Creek, after all that is his most notable acting role he has ever had, he shouldn't be offended that not everyone knows his real name, he is not that famous!
