Al Pacino: Roles
built 239 days ago
Al Pacino turns in a tour-de-force performance as a family man who turns amateur criminal, planning to rob a Brooklyn bank to pay for his gay lover's sex-change operation. The heist goes horribly awry and Pacino soon finds himself reluctantly masterminding a highly publicized hostage situation that casts him in the role of unlikely media hero. Sidney Lumet's riveting drama, based on actual events... stars Charles Durning, John Cazale, Chris Sarandon. 124 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital mono, French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, Spanish, French; audio commentary; documentary; featurette. Two-disc set.
Pacino as Tony Montana in Scarface (1983) Pacino recently turned down an offer to reprise his role as Michael Corleone in The Godfather: The Game, ostensibly because his voice had changed dramatically since playing Michael in the first two Godfather films. As a result, Electronic Arts was not permitted to use Pacino's likeness or voice in the game, although his character does appear in it. It is rumored Pacino actually declined the role due to a conflict with Electronic Arts' rival, Vivendi Universal, which launched a competing game adaptation of the remake of 1983's Scarface, titled Scarface: The World is Yours. However, Pacino did not voice his character in this game for the same given reason. Pacino allowed his likeness to be used for the game, but not his voice.[11]
DOG DAY AFTERNOON stars Al Pacino in his Academy Award(R)-nominated role of Sonny Wortzik. When Sonny resorts to robbing a bank to pay for his lover's operation, it turns into a hostage situation and a media circus. Also starring Charles Durning. Directed by Sidney Lumet.
