In awarding Al Gore with the Nobel Prize, has the Norwegian Parliament betrayed its pro-NATO, pro-war bias? According to this op-ed article from Mexico’s La Jornada, it’s time for the developed world to begin awarding “alternate peace prizes to compete creatively for world public opinion, rather than depend exclusively on the politically contaminated Nobel ‘Peace’ Prize.”

Al Gore's wife Tipper upstaged her husband when she made her own political crusade, pushing for warning labels for warning labels for violent and drug oriented music. She may have been reflecting sincere Baby Boomer fear of that evil music (a fear based on remembering how evil their own music was growing up), but more likely this was a weak and very cynical political play.

Concerned about the possibility of nuclear war with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), Gore avidly studied arms control issues. In the early 1980s he proposed a plan to convert multiple-warhead nuclear missiles to single-warhead missiles, dubbed Midgetmen. Theoretically, if both nuclear powers held only these less powerful missiles, it would be less advantageous for one of them to strike first, thereby lessening the chances of a conflict. The Midgetman was never developed, but Gore’s advocacy won him recognition as an arms control expert.

Mr. Gore presented an idea. Detractors have a platform to present their ideas in response to his film and ideas/ Apparently, they have no game, and must avoid the facts and somehow think Al Gore is the issue. He is not. How about forgetting Al Gore and address GW? These tactics are lame and come from the same mindset that uses the "troops" to somehow validate their useless war message. The fact is, is that a large consensus agrees that GW is real, and a problem to be addressed sooner than later.

Following the November 5, 2002 midterm elections Gore re-emerged into the public eye with a 14-city book tour and a well-orchestrated "full Gore" media blitz which included a pair of policy speeches. On September 23, Gore delivered a speech on the impending War with Iraq and the War on Terrorism that generated a fair amount of commentary. Less than two weeks later, on October 2, he made a speech on Bush's handling of the economy to the Brookings Institution. Also, during this time period Gore guest starred on several programs such as The Late Show with David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, appearing much more relaxed and funnier as a private citizen than he did while holding public office.

If there were any justice in the world, Hollywood would honor brave, creative talents like Pat Dollard, not Al Gore. Dollard is an ex-Hollywood agent-turned-war journalist. Inspired after 9/11, he embedded with Marines in Ramadi and produced the compelling documentary, “Young Americans.” We’re proud at Hot Air to be screening a special clip from the […]
