Al Gore: Nobel Prize
built 137 days ago
Inside Kleiner's portfolio Gore appears utterly comfortable with this drill, but in fact he's engaging in some on-the-job training. The recovering politician, environmental activist, and Nobel laureate is adding another title to his résumé: venture capitalist. After "a conversation that's gone on for a year and a half," according to Gore, he has decided to join his old pal John Doerr as an active, hands-on partner at Kleiner Perkins, Silicon Valley's preeminent venture firm.

"Our analysis shows that Al Gore's cultural legacy is enormously enhanced by the Nobel Prize," stated IFC General Manager and Executive Vice President Evan Shapiro. "The Nobel was seen as more significant than Mr. Gore's other recent honors, and more meaningful than the one honor that eluded him -- the Presidency. Most of all, as the survey indicates, Friday's Nobel announcement has created a valuable moment in time for independent minded votes within the electorate.
Dedicated peace activists like the [Dalai] Lama, Nelson Mandela, and Mother Teresa have preceded Mr. Gore in winning the Prize. As have not so dedicated peace activists like Yassar Arafat (who could have been described as a “piece” advocate due to the condition of the bodies of his victims after they were blown to bits), Mikhail Gorbachev – the first time a Peace Prize was awarded to a dictator for not sending in tanks to crush liberty, and Kofi Anan whose contributions to the peace of such places as Rwanda and Darfur will long be remembered – at least by those lucky enough to be left alive following his spectacularly inept and corrupt leadership.
[A]t National Review Online, Iain Murray suggested that the prize should have been shared with "that well-known peace campaigner Osama bin Laden, who implicitly endorsed Gore's stance." You see, bin Laden once said something about climate change - therefore, anyone who talks about climate change is a friend of the terrorists.
