Aisle
built 657 days ago
Designed by Sam Barlow, Aisle is a text-based adventure with no goals, no puzzles, and no score. You define how the story progresses by typing commands consisting primarily of verb/noun pairs to order him to do things, like picking an item, interacting with the woman, or moving. Once the command is given, the story moves on and the resulting man's action displayed. When your involvement with the story ends, Aisle resets itself to the beginning and gives you another chance from the very same starting point to enter a different command and alter how the story develops. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide

If there is such a thing as experimental game design, Aisle is a prime example. The game's introduction makes it clear that the game is very different from most adventures. Inserted midway into a story about a man, you must decide which single action the man takes next. Once decided, the story moves forward of its own accord and your role, as a participant, ends. Aisle has no puzzles, no clearly defined goal, no score, and no way to tell if you're winning, making Aisle more interactive fiction than a text-based adventure.

The Aisle-Master couldn't be easier to operate. The articulated design enables the operator to drive to the center of the pallet required, turn the steering and mast through 90 degrees, then drive directly into the pallet. The operator then simply reverses out while unwinding the steering wheel.
