Aishwarya was an architecture student before she entered modeling as her part-time job. She was best known for her Pepsi commercial with Mahima Chaudhry. With her green-grey eyes, she was already approached by big names in India's film industry, where they offered her starring roles. She rejected the film offers since she aimed to be an architect. However, fate had other things in store for her after she was crowned Miss World 1994. Soon after her winning, again she received offers to star in movies.

Over the week, instead of celebrating the release of yet another film featuring them together, Aishwarya and Abhishek have been confronting uncomfortable questions that the kiss has thrown up in their relationship. Sources said her skimpy costumes too have not gone down well with the first family of Bollywood. "They are wondering where was the need for Aishwarya to change her demure image at this stage and agree to a full-blown kiss on film," said the friend.

In 1994 Aishwarya gained the title of Miss World and in 2000 she was named the Most Beautiful Miss World of all time by the highest score of 9.911. Among the long list of her amicable achievements is the song “Kajra Re” which was voted the best song of 2005. She participated in a performance showcasing Indian Culture at the Closing Ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games at Melbourne. The performance was on behalf of the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi. Aishwarya reportedly earned three crore rupees, the evivalent of about 600,000 U.S. dollars. Another landmark in her ever-flourishing career took place in Amsterdam during the IIFA awards, when a breed of tulip was named after her.
