Airsoft Gun: Spring

Enter Airsoft Catagory Airsoft was developed in Japan in the late 1970s to provide an alternative for gun hobbyists because local laws prevented individuals from privately owning firearms. A heavy emphasis was therefore placed on making accurate replicas of real firearms. In contrast, paintball was developed in the United States in 1981 as a variation of hide and seek tag, through the use of utility companies' paint marking guns, which mark power/utility poles, and continues to focus more on their function than their form or aesthetic qualities. Paintball has quickly gained greater popularity than airsoft in the United States. However, in Asia, airsoft is much more popular and paintball is nearly non-existent. In the interests of a more family-friendly image, paintball as an industry usually avoids direct analogies to the military and war (seen by the movement towards spectator-friendly speedball).
The Airsoft KWA MAC11 series offers a Full Suite of Options for the toy gun enthusiasts. This submachine gun weighs only 2.9 pounds, yet blasts rounds with a velocity of up to 320 fps. The fully automatic version of the Airsoft KWA spits out 20 rounds per second of fully automated power.
KWA selective fire "Boys" Colt Commando electric rifle, approx. 3/4 scale, pictured with .12 gram Crosman ammunition and Cybergun Airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets at velocities from 100 ft/s (30 m/s) for a low-end spring pistol, to 550 ft/s and beyond for heavily-upgraded customized sniper rifles. Most non-upgraded AEG's using the Tokyo Marui system are in the middle, producing velocities from 270 to 300 ft/s (80 to 90 m/s) with the exception of a few companies such as G&G, G&P and Jing Gong which manufacture guns that produce velocities of 340-375 ft/s stock. The internal components of most guns can be upgraded which can increase the pellet velocity significantly. Using heavier pellets (.25g, .3g, etc.) will significantly reduce the gun's muzzle velocity, but can increase accuracy at range and reduce susceptibility to wind drift. Conversely, lighter pellets may travel further but are less accurate. High-velocity AEG's often employ heavier pellets, as the velocity penalty does not affect them as much, while the accuracy benefits remain.
Soft Air Airsoft Guns The "Mini AirSoft" guns are caricatures of the most popular rifles and submachine guns. The Mini Electrics use a battery operated motor to do all the work. It allows for fully automatic firing and lots of fun. User 4 AA's, not included. Power levels are usually very low, shoot through paper at a distance of 20 feet. This is a great starting point for younger users who are looking to jsut have a little fun around the house.

The first ever gas powered airsoft guns were commonly referred to as 'classic' guns, owing to their age. These guns were most commonly powered by liquid propellants such as R-12 (Which was marketed by the Japanese as FLON-12 or brand name Freon-12) Freon feed system with a majority of the configurations containing two tanks, one containing the R-12 and one used as an expansion tank, and the gun itself. R-12 was commonly used in car air conditioning systems. It is ... illegal in some states and parts of the world because it is not environmentally friendly. Later users modified these old guns to be powered by regulated CO2 canisters or nitrogen/high pressure air bottles to increase power and consistency. However, these guns have largely been superseded by the newer and more versatile AEGs, or automatic electric guns.
The highest popularity with AirSoft variant guns are termed "Air Electric" guns. The electric powered mechanisms are usually encased in a large gun with a high capacity magazine along the scale of a submachine gun or rifle configuration. Most are finely detailed while some are equipped with functional accessories and components. Other unique selections in this category are the science fiction guns from popular movies and the cute, compressed "Mini AirSoft" guns, which are basically stubby and exaggerated copies of actual rifles and submachine guns. The Mini's are a great start for getting into Airsoft.
