Airlines: Flights

Previously, Malaysia Airlines only operated 2 daily waves of flight arrivals and departures, but from August 2006, the airline operated 4 waves of flight per day. The airline ... launched its new flight schedules effective August 2006 to ensure better connectivity.
Flight Snapshot is a service that enables airlines to provide a real-time graphical view of their aircraft and airspace for public view on their web site. Flight Explorer provides the airline with a static image file, updated every five minutes that can be customized and delivered directly to your web server or location of your choice. The Flight Snapshot image can be customized to show various combinations of overlays including weather, aircraft tags, airports, origins, destinations, ETA's and much more. There are a number of configurations available including a rotating snapshot of multiple airports and a more common refreshing snapshot of a single airport.
Many discount airliners are "point-to-point" airlines, and do not sell connecting tickets if you need to take two planes to reach your destination. This means you might need to collect your luggage and check it in again for the next leg of the journey. Another risk is that several low cost carriers do not take responsibility if you miss your connection, even if your connecting flight is with the same airline. This could force you to purchase a new ticket for the next flight. Some low cost carriers will help you out though, so check their rules and extremely high expectations.

The headquarters of Air India in Mumbai, India. In Finland, the charter establishing Aero O/Y (now Finnair, one of the oldest still-operating airlines in the world) was signed in the city of Helsinki on 12 September 1923. Junkers F 13 D-335 became the first aircraft of the company, when Aero took delivery of it on 14 March 1924. The first flight was between Helsinki and Tallinn, capital of Estonia, and it took place on 20 March 1924, one week later.
In a move meant to promote reducing congestion, the DOT yesterday announced that airports can now charge airlines landing fees based on time and overall airplane volume, rather than simply their weight. Critics charge the previous policy allowed airlines to schedule flights on smaller and more regional jets during busy times, when what were needed were fewer and larger jets. The move would allow airports to schedule their flights throughout the day. Most likely the fees will be passed on to consumers, as they should. A good way to increase in a system is to make those who want to use its resources when they're in short supply pay a premium. Airlines are expected to lobby fiercely against the measure.

Discount airlines do not wait for late running passengers. Idle plane waiting for a passenger costs money. Check in desks shut promptly at the advertised time. If you are one minute late, they will not let you check in. Also, if you do not get to the boarding gate in time, you may find the plane gone and your luggage sitting on the ground. In these circumstances you will not get a refund, but you may get a transfer to a later flight if there is room.
