Air France has ordered 12 Airbus A380 aircraft, with options on a further two. Delivery will start in 2009. The A380 will be used from Paris to Montréal and New York and as additional aircraft arrive, to Beijing and Tokyo.[21]
During 3Q07, Embraer executed a contract for the sale of 20 E-Jets to Air France / KLM group. Executive jet sales maintained the sales performance observed since the beginning of the year for all aircraft offered by the Company. The Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 have achieved great market acceptance, surpassing 500 firm orders, as of September 30, 2007. The first experimental Phenom 100 aircraft maiden flight took place during the third quarter and reached an important step in the development process of the program.

It is not clear why Air France ground staff in Indonesia accepted the April and May shipments. Unfortunately the IATA rules are not prohibitions. Shipment of pregnant animals should be banned. Unattended pregnant monkeys could suffer stress or turbulence­related miscarriages in the holds of aircraft with nobody to help them. The monkeys could bleed to death with nobody knowing or caring.

After taking part in the route proving flights in 1975, she was leased to Air France in 1976 for use until their other aircraft were delivered. In 1977 she took part in a mid-east sales tour , where they was interest in a purchase from Iran. After featuring in the Concorde disaster movie in 1979 she was stored until being bought by Air France for 1 Franc in 1980.

On August 4, 1948, Max Hymans was appointed president of Air France. During his 13 years at the helm, he implemented a modernisation policy centred on the introduction of state-of-the-art jet aircraft.
