United Airlines [H]as launched a new dedicated Web site for its low-fare arm Ted, which will begin flying in February, at www.flyted.com. It ... has opened a new dedicated reservation line at 800-CALL-TED. The new Web site allows users to check on their frequent flyer accounts, order Ted merchandise and book hotels and rental cars. Ted will initially fly from Denver to Reno, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New Orleans, Tampa, Orlando, Ontario (Calif.), and Fort Lauderdale. It also will fly from Las Vegas to San Francisco and Los Angeles, and between San Francisco and Phoenix.

Fares are calculated at $220 per hour for the time the airplane is in the air, including any empty legs (for instance, returning the plane home without passengers). Fares are calculated using the above-listed times, and a 1-hour minimum flight time will apply. Actual air time may vary depending on weather conditions. A Federal Excise Tax of 7.5% is added to the total fare. Rates are subject to change without notice.
