Aging-research leads the way to a greater understanding of all age-related diseases. It provides the hope and promise for a healthier longer life, less susceptible to disease and disability. To study the aging-research, it requires two complementary approaches: studying the components of age-related diseases and underlying the mechanisms of aging.
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is part of the National Institutes of Health. The site lists NIA funding opportunities, describes current research programs, contains reports and papers from conferences convened by NIA, provides a searchable database of images of putative biological pathways, macromolecular structures, gene families, and cellular relationships, and offers consumer information including a resource directory for organizations on aging. Links to other aging-related sites provided.
This Mini-WHoCA is a follow-up of the 2005 Joint Conference of the American Society on Aging and the National Conference on the Aging in Philadelphia held on March 11. The first meeting featured several workshops that focused upon funding, researching, servicing, increasing housing options, and consumer education.
