Why does no one ever mention biology with regard to the age of consent? People are biologically capable of and have a drive for sex from around the age of 13. It may not be palatable to adults but that is the biological reality. Why is this never acknowledged by lawmakers or anyone else?

Previously the BMA proposed that the age of consent for homosexual men should be set at 18 to reflect their slower rate of biological development. However, most researchers now believe that adult sexual orientation is usually established before the age of puberty in both boys and girls.

Paradoxically, it is the present age limit of 16 that contributes to the risk of abuse by reinforcing the idea that young people under 16 have no sexual rights. When the legal system says that youths are not allowed to consent to sex prior to their sixteenth birthday, it's effectively denying them the right to control their own bodies. This sexual disempowerment of young people plays into the hands of adults who want to abuse them.

The Gallop Labor Government has justified lowering the age of consent for homosexual males to 16 solely on the grounds of equality. Whether that is right or wrong, or whether this is in the best interests of vulnerable young adults has not been properly considered by the wider community.

BFA believes there is ... a need to condemn not only adultery in its blatant form of cheating on a spouse, but its camouflaged form by easy divorce to pursue second and third marriages. This has been done by those who describe themselves either as Catholic, Evangelical and even more startling the born again Christian.
