afroman6.jpg Now, Afroman is following up the worldwide success of that recording with the aptly titled AFROHOLIC … THE EVEN BETTER TIMES, a comprehensive, two-disc collection — released on his home-grown Hungry Hustler Records label — showcasing forthright lyrics, skilled guitar work and infectious hooks. Whether raising the roof with “Let’s Get High Tonight,” reliving painful “Ghetto Memories” or simply “Hittin’ Switches,” every hip-hop-infused cut is hard-rocking and undeniably heartfelt.
Afroman, Afroman Band Afroman is living proof that hip-hop doesn't have to be about violence.. Just like the 2Live Crew and 2 Short before him Afro tackles a variety of subjects and puts the party back in Rap music..

Ever since the eighth-grade expulsion that kick-started his career, Afroman has striven to fuse the finest early rap elements with modern-day attitudes, creating high-spirited yet unquestionably up-to-the-minute melodies. From his perspective, if the tunes sound a tad familiar, that's fine, so long as his fans are smiling, dancing and, most important of all, having a grand time.

Afroman Tickets Afroman eventually ... gained the attention of Universal Records, who signed him to a six-album deal. His first Universal album, The Good Times, was a compilation of his first two LPs and a few new ones. "Because I Got High" was also included on the soundtrack to Kevin Smith's film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. "Because I Got High" became a huge hit around the world in the last quarter of 2001. When he returned in 2004, he did so in a big way, with the double-disc Afroholic...the Even Better Times, albeit he did so independently. Free of Universal, he wrote, produced, and recorded Afroholic on his own, marketed it largely via the Internet (/www.afromanmusic.com), and toured with a live band.

Afroman is ... fond of referencing his independence from record labels and the "corporate world" and cites himself as an example of how an artist can take recording and distribution into his or her own hands. There is also a distinct resemblance between the chorus of Afroman's song "Palmdale" to the chorus of "Spring Love" by Stevie B.
