The X-Rail was originally developed by TASER International to support the US military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The X-Rail provides an integrated, scalable non-lethal capability to the M4 and M16 platforms. The integration of the TASER X-Rail and X26 into the M4/M16 allows the soldier to make split second transitioning from lethal to non-lethal force when dealing with engagements mixed with enemy combatants and unarmed or lightly armed individuals.
Kutschbach, 25, of McKees Rocks, died of wounds suffered in Tagab, Afghanistan, when his vehicle was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire. Staff Sgt. Kutschbach was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, Stuttgart, Germany. He was a 2000 graduate of Montour High School, and enlisted in the Army as a Special Forces candidate and earned his Green Beret the following year.

Canada signed an agreement with Afghanistan in 2005 that committed Canadian soldiers to hand over captured Taliban prisoners to local authorities. Unlike Britain and the Netherlands, Canada's prisoner transfer agreement with Afghanistan did not give it the automatic right to check on individuals handed over by its forces.
Coalition and Afghan forces teamed up to killabout 40 Taliban extremists and capture three others during two separateoperations in Afghanistan’s Helmand and Ghazni provinces on 21 September,officials said. The combined force used precision munitions to kill many of the40 Taliban fighters who died during the operation in Helmand province,officials said.
