Image The original version of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith can be found at Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The ride, opened in 1999, features the exact same track layout but with an entirely different theme to the "plussed" Parisian version. Here, riders are boarding super-stretch limousines to rush to an Aerosmith concert, with 2D blacklight icons of Hollywood positioned around the track and a more glamorous, Hollywood-themed exterior. Five different soundtracks are featured, but the customised light shows are absent.

Aerosmith\'s third record, 1975\'s Toys in the Attic, was their breakthrough album both commercially and artistically. By the time it was recorded, the band\'s sound had developed into a sleek, hard-driving hard rock powered by simple, almost brutal, blues-based riffs. Many critics at the time labeled the group as punk rockers, and it\'s easy to see why -- instead of adhering to the world-music pretentions of Led Zeppelin or the prolonged gloomy mysticism of Black Sabbath, Aerosmith stripped heavy metal to its basic core, spitting out spare riffs that not only rocked, but rolled. Steven Tyler\'s lyrics were filled with double entendres and clever jokes and the entire band had a streetwise charisma that separated them from the heavy, lumbering arena rockers of the era. Toys in the Attic captured the essence of the newly invigorated Aerosmith. "Sweet Emotion," the first single from Toys in the Attic, broke into the Top 40 in the summer of 1975, with the album reaching number 11 shortly afterward.

Though no details were revealed, Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil told a national radio audience last week his band and Aerosmith have agreed to launch a co-headlining tour later this year. Also, Neil confirmed the band will be hooking up with the Rolling Stones for a series of European concerts during the summer. Finally, the Crue will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Jan. 25.

Aerosmith signed to Columbia Records again in the mid-1990s, but they still had to complete two contractual albums for Geffen before recording for the new label...this was later achieved by the label releasing numerous compilations. The band took time off with their families before working on their next album, Nine Lives, which was plagued with personnel problems, including the firing of manager Tim Collins, who according to band members nearly caused the band to break up. The producer of the album was ... changed from Glen Ballard to Kevin Shirley. Nine Lives was released in March of 1997. Reviews were generally mixed, and Nine Lives initially fell down the charts, although it had a long chart life and sold double platinum in the United States alone, fueled by the singles, "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)", the ballad "Hole in My Soul", and the crossover-pop smash "Pink" (which won the band their fourth Grammy Award in 1999 in the Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal category). It was followed by the 2+ year-long Nine Lives Tour, which was plagued by problems including lead singer Steven Tyler injuring his leg at a concert, and Joey Kramer suffering second degree burns when his car caught fire at a gas station.
Aerosmith released Permanent Vacation in August 1987. For the first time, the band had songwriting help. Desmond Child, who had written hit songs for Bon Jovi, was called in and helped finish "Dude Looks Like A Lady" and "Angel." The songs garnered the band their first hits in years. In September 1988, Aerosmith received their first MTV Music Award for "Best Group Video" for "Dude Looks Like a Lady." Single "Angel" peaked at number three on the Billboard charts.
