Aerial Archives has an extensive collection of historical and current vertical aerial photography and aerial maps of many United States metropolitan areas and a number of cities in Canada and Mexico. In addition, Aerial Archives provides a large selection of satellite photographs, beginning with early imagery acquired by Landsat, to recent, high resolution 60cm imagery acquired by QuickBird, the highest resolution commercial imaging satellite.

Aerial maps are available for each alternative being studied as part of the Mountain View Corridor (MVC) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Due to the vast study area, each alternative has multiple maps available in geographic segments. Please note that the maps are high resolution files, which may take a long time to download.

The TerraServer-USA Web site is one of the world's largest online databases, providing free public access to a vast data store of maps and aerial photographs of the United States. TerraServer is designed to work with commonly available computer systems and Web browsers over slow speed communications links. The TerraServer name is a play on words, with 'Terra' referring to the 'earth' or 'land' and ... to the terabytes of images stored on the site. TerraServer is operated by the Microsoft Corporation as a research project for developing advanced database technology. Maps and images are supplied through their partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey.

This group contains three collections of which two - the 1936 and 1938 - include aerial photographs taken by the U.S. Air Corps. One shows the effects of the 1936 flood. The other, taken on the 23rd and 24th of September, 1938, shows the areas most affected by flooding after the 1938 Hurricane blasted through New York and New England on September 21. The State Library has mounted 132 oblique views of the damaged areas along the Connecticut River, the Quinebaug River, and along the shore from East Haven in Connecticut to Narragansett Bay in Rhode island online. The photographs of the 1955 floods do not include aerials.

The Forest Service is one of six Federal agencies that serve on the steering committee of the National Aerial Photography Program (NAPP) administered by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This program was established to coordinate the acquisition of aerial photography over the United States every 5 years. The Forest Service ... owns and operates aircraft, cameras, and sensor systems to acquire information for program activities with critical specifications for resource protection and monitoring.

MSN Virtual Earth is integrated with the local features of MSN Search, MapPoint technologies and aerial imagery from TerraServer-USA to provide users with expansive search results. MSN Virtual Earth currently provides detailed street-level maps and point-of-interest information for the United States. In the next beta release of MSN Virtual Earth scheduled for later this year, MSN plans to incorporate oblique, or bird’s-eye, imagery licensed from Pictometry International Corp. that depicts cities, landmarks and points of interest at a 45-degree-angle view.
