Aeon Flux: Trevor Goodchild
built 189 days ago
Aeon Flux is a mysterious and amoral secret agent from the country of Monica. Her motives or background are left unexplained, as are those of her antagonist/love, Trevor Goodchild. On her missions, she deals swift, bloody "justice" to all that oppose her.

Aeon Flux, the movie, is about the last remaining human city on the planet. In 2011, a virus killed all but 5 million people, who were saved by Trevor Goodchild and moved into the walled city of Bregna. For 400 years, the Goodchilds reigned over Bregna, a walled utopia where life was wonderful, if you didn’t ask any questions about the people who routinely disappeared…and you didn’t mind the occasional strange vision or nightmare.

Aeon Flux is essentially a platformer set in a sci-fi dystopian future where the world has been reduced to a wasteland, except for the seemingly ideal city of Bregna. That seemingly perfect world is ruled by Trevor Goodchild who supports his society at the expense of its people. Unlike most games set in dystopian worlds Aeon Flux eschews the Matrix-style gritty-punk, darkened imagery in favor of bright, colorful imagery based on the original Aeon Flux television show. Aeon and Trevor ... have a witty rapport as they did on the show-backed by some of the best voice acting around. Aeon Flux's graphics in general are stellar, and that's something to be said given the bright colors and multitude of objects on the screen at any given moment. Aeon herself looks fabulous as she performs various acrobatic moves-she resembles Shinobi's grace and even has a matching red light on her back that occasionally leaves light trails, mirroring Shinobi's trailing cape.

Aeon Flux takes place 400 years after a virus has devastated humanity, killing off 99% of the population. Now, one walled city named Bregna, holding 5 million people is all that remains of humanity. Bregna is ruled by a council of genetic scientists who have (supposedly) been avidly working on fixing the fallout of the virus for the past 400 years. For reasons only partially explained later in the story, the ruling council has instituted a totalitarian government with an extreme crackdown on personal freedoms, and have backed their authority with an intense surveillance apparatus. A group of rebels called the “Monicans” have challenged their right to rule, and have vowed to destroy the ruling council, especially their leader, Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas), at all costs.

Leather bound and lethal, Aeon Flux secret agent, saboteur engages in a never-ending battle of wills with her nemesis/love, Trevor Goodchild. And what she may lack in morals and warmth, she more than makes up for with cat-like reflexes and ammunition. This director s cut of the groundbreaking MTV series is a mind-blowing combination of killer comic-book style animation, complex plots and themes, and action-driven narrative. The 3-disc set includes ten digitally remastered episodes, and the original MTV shorts. Aeon Flux doesn t skate the edge, she is the edge. And she will prevail, even if it kills her.

Virtually every episode is different in Aeon Flux, but all of them deal with a strange, fast-paced plot that deals with espionage in some way. Episodes usually have the feel of a chess match, where Aeon and Trevor match wits over completely strange and esoteric plots. More often than not, nobody wins. In fact, unlike most shows, the winning and ending itself is rarely important. This is not what the shows are about. More important is the mood, the feel, and the atmosphere that exudes from the visuals, the dialogue and the score.
