Advair Diskus 250/50 is indicated for the twice daily, maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with COPD associated with chronic bronchitis. It does not replace fast-acting inhalers used to relieve sudden symptoms of shortness of breath.

Patients should use ADVAIR DISKUS at regular intervals as directed. Results of clinical trials indicate significant improvement may occur within the first 30 minutes of taking the first dose; ... the full benefit may not be achieved until treatment has been administered for 1 week or longer. The patient should not use more than the prescribed dosage but should contact the physician if symptoms do not improve or if the condition worsens.
