Advair Diskus: Doctor
built 635 days ago
Advair Diskus is used for long-term control of asthma and short-term control of COPD associated with bronchitis. The drug won't end a sudden attack. For relief of acute asthma or bronchial symptoms, your doctor will prescribe a short-acting inhaler such as Proventil or Ventolin.

Advair Diskus delivers your dose as a very fine powder that most, but not all, patients can taste or feel. Whether you are able to taste or feel your dose of medicine, you should not take more than the recommended dose of 1 inhalation each morning and evening (approximately 12 hours apart). If you are not sure if you are receiving your dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Advair diskus is used by patients who require continuous treatment for the control of asthma. Due to the various possible side effects of using Advair, a proper prescription from your doctor is required as a precautionary measure. The use of the Advair diskus is not advisable for treating acute incidents of asthma. An overdose of the medicine calls for immediate medical attention.
If Seretide Accuhaler (Advair Diskus) is used with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining this medication with the following:
Long-term use of the medications in Advair Diskus could exacerbate certain conditions. Your doctor will monitor you closely if you have any of the following: infections caused by a virus, fungus, or bacteria (including tuberculosis); blood sugar problems; overactive thyroid; seizures; eye problems (such as cataracts or glaucoma); blood disorders; and osteoporosis or an increased risk of losing bone mineral density.

Check with your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not improve with fluticasone; salmeterol (Advair™ Diskus®) inhalation, or if they get worse. If you find that you are using your short-acting inhalers (such as albuterol) more than normal or they are not as effective in treating your symptoms, you should contact your health care professional as soon as possible. You may need a change of therapy or may be having worsening of your lung condition. Do not stop using fluticasone; salmeterol (Advair™ Diskus®) except on your doctor's advice. Using your inhalers regularly as prescribed will help control your symptoms; try not to run out of your medications. It is recommended that you keep an extra refill of your fluticasone; salmeterol (Advair™ Diskus®) inhaler and other inhalers on hand in case you need them.
