Adrienne Barbeau is not a modest woman, at least not since her nude off-Broadway debut in Stag Movie. Now Barbeau is back on the off-Broadway stage starring as Judy Garland in The Property Known as Garland. Barbeau's career began in 1968 when she joined the Broadway cast of Fiddler on the Roof as Hodel. She went on to earn a Tony nomination for her role as Rizzo in Grease in 1972. Barbeau's big screen credits include The Fog, Escape From New York, Swamp Thing, Cannonball Run, Back to School and Creepshow. Her small screen credits include Maude, the voice of Catwoman on Batman: The Animated Series, The Drew Carey Show, Lifetime's Shattered Hearts and HBO's Carnivale.

American actress Adrienne Barbeau was encouraged by her mother to take dancing and singing lessons. Adrienne was active in theatre both in high school and at Foothills Junior College; by age 19 she was touring Pacific military bases as a member of the San Jose Light Opera. After an unprepossessing job with a termite-control company, Adrienne set out for New York, paying the bills with a variety of jobs including go-go dancing in New Jersey nightclubs. In 1968 she was cast as Hodel in the long-running Broadway production Fiddler on the Roof, and three years later was featured in Grease, winning a Tony nomination through her rendition of "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee." From here, Adrienne was hired by Norman Lear to replace first-choice actress Marcia Rodd in the role of the divorced daughter on the controversial TV sitcom Maude. She played the role from 1972 through the series' cancellation in 1978, after which she began a whole new career as a successful horror-film star and sexy pin-up model.

Adrienne Barbeau began appearing in local theater productions as a teenager in San Jose. As a struggling young actress in New York, she earned the rent as a go-go dancer. Her big break came when she joined the cast of Broadway's original Fiddler on the Roof, which starred Zero Mostel as Tevye and Bea Arthur as Yente, the Matchmaker. Barbeau was later nominated for a Tony, playing Betty Rizzo in the original Broadway cast of Grease. From 1972-78, Arthur and Barbeau worked together on the hit television series Maude. Arthur played the title character, a crotchety old dame, and Barbeau played Carol, Maude's pretty, buxom daughter.

Adrienne Barbeau was born to a French-Canadian father and an Armenian mother. She grew up in northern California and the state's Central Valley and began taking dance lessons at age 3 and voice in the 5th grade. By age 15 she had been accepted into the prestigious San Jose Light Opera. She ... acted in high school productions. After graduating, she enrolled at Foothill College in Menlo Park, Calif., but left at age 19 to participate in a USO Tour with the San Jose Light Opera.
