Adobe Connect is a Web-based desktop video conferencing tool that is available for use by everyone in the Penn State community. Although students may not create or own meeting rooms, they may work with staff advisers and faculty members to obtain access to meeting rooms. Once a student has access to a meeting room, the Host for the meeting room, usually the staff or faculty member, can assign the student a role which gives him/her access to all of the tools in the meeting room.

Adobe is one of the oldest building materials in use. It is basically just dirt that has been moistened with water, sometimes with chopped straw or other fibers added for strength, and then allowed to dry in the desired shape. According to the publication, Adobe has seen a lot of success with print advertising, but has decided to pay more attention to the Web. Today, the company announced that it would be working with Photobucket to provide the online photo sharing service with a suite of online video-editing tools based on Adobe Premier and powered by Flash. Adobe acquired Flash when it purchased Macromedia in 2005 for $3.4 billion in stock.

Adobe is derived from the Arab word, "at-tub," referring to the earth bricks Arabs made as early as 7000 BC. With the mingling of the Arab and Spanish cultures, "at-tub" evolved into "adob." And when the Spanish and American Indian cultures combined in California, the word became "adobe". The outer walls were first smeared with a thick coat of adobe mud and then a coating of white lime plaster, made from baking seashells in a fire. Each year, a fresh coat of plaster was applied to cover cracks and fallen chunks. The wall thickness of California adobes varied from about two feet to five feet. The higher the walls, the thicker they were built.
