Adam Scott

Adam Scott has been playing quite well lately, well enough so that he’s frequently being invited to spend time in the media tent. This means he gets to talk a lot and gets quoted a lot. For a young guy he’s learned to talk to the media quite well, presenting the stock terminology that is present at virtually every interview. Of course, when you do a lot of talking, there’s only so much one can say that’s original. Most is just regurgitation of the same old phrases with the appropriate blanks filled in.

Adam Scott has defeated countryman Brendan Jones in a tough encounter coming back from 1-down. In a frenetic start to the match, Jones birdied the first whilst Adam missed. However, Jones gave the shot back after bogeying the second. Jones' birdie on the 3rd gave him the 1-up lead yet again but a birdie to Scott on the fourth hole made it all square. Back-to-back birdies for Adam on the 6th and 7th holes ensured he took the lead at 2-up and from there he never looked back, holing another birdie at 16 to effectively close out the match. He will now tee-off at 9.15am local time for his second round match vs Woody Austin.

Adam Scott creates paintings that describe his view of the American landscape. The paint is excessive, reckless, indulgent and seductive as it defines suburban A-frame homes, rural churches, and IHOP restaurants in over-saturated, unnatural colors. In several paintings faceless characters and disembodied objects from old cartoons begin to subtly invade the landscape. Sledgehammers hang in the sky ready to strike, pilgrims with telescopes surveil, and guns poke around trees. Their presence, though familiar and seemingly innocuous, evoke a time of paranoia and instability.

Titleist Tour Representative Rick Nelson was working the range this morning when Adam Scott flashed his UNLV headcover and the conversation quickly turned to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. “Still runnin’, baby,” said Scott, who attended UNLV for a year before turning professional in 2000. Nelson, who attended Southern Illinois University before being drafted in baseball, responded by praising the success of his Salukis, when he found he was outnumbered. Joining Scott in the banter was his swing coach, Butch Harmon, who lives in Las Vegas, and Charley Hoffman, a 2000 UNLV graduate who happened to be practicing next to ex-teammate Scott.

Adam is currently shooting the comedy 'Step Brothers,' co-starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly for director Adam McKay and producer Judd Apatow. The film focuses on three spoiled guys who become stepbrothers after their single parents get hitched. He recently wrapped production on 'August,' a drama that centers on two brothers (Scott and Josh Hartnett) who continue to fight to keep their start-up company afloat on Wall Street during August 2001, a month before the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
